**To retrieve the encrypted secret value of a secret**

The following ``get-secret-value`` example gets the current secret value. To get the previous secret value, include  ``--version-stage AWSPREVIOUS``. ::

    aws secretsmanager get-secret-value \
        --secret-id MyTestSecret
